do you replace our IT support?
for a small team, usually yes. for a larger one we tend to sit alongside whoever handles helpdesk and take the infrastructure, cloud, and security side. we'll tell you which of those you need.
"IT support" covers two different jobs, and the answer depends on which one you mean. there's the helpdesk: a laptop won't boot, someone forgot a password, the printer is doing that thing again. and there's the infrastructure: hosting, cloud accounts, backups, monitoring, domains and email, who has access to what. small companies often have one person or one provider doing both, because nobody told them they're different skills.
what we take on
the second job is ours in full. from the security page, the day-to-day list:
- hosting and cloud setup, moves, and cost trimming
- backups we test by actually restoring them
- uptime monitoring with alerts that reach a human
- domains, DNS, TLS, and email deliverability (SPF, DKIM, DMARC)
- google workspace or microsoft 365 accounts and MFA
- the joiner and leaver process, so access is granted and revoked on time
- laptop, device, and password-manager setup
small team versus larger one
for a small team, that list plus a few laptop setups a year is all the IT there is, so yes, we replace it. for a larger team with a real helpdesk load, someone needs to be answering the phone at 9am, and that isn't what we're for. we sit alongside that provider, take the infrastructure and security side, and agree in writing who owns what so nothing falls between us.
either way it runs as a monthly retainer: a flat number, no per-ticket charges, month to month. tell us the size of the team and what you have today, and we'll say which arrangement fits.
